Hyderabad: The State Task Force (STF) of the Excise Department has intensified raids on illegal liquor and toddy shops across Hyderabad and surrounding areas, acting on instructions from Prohibition and Excise Commissioner C. Hari Kiran.

On Sunday, STF Teams A and D, under the leadership of Team Leaders Anji Reddy and Nagaraju, conducted joint raids on multiple illicit liquor depots. In Nallacheruvu-Uppal, three individuals, Ranga Srikanth, Lodi Anil, and Badiga Naveen, were arrested for transporting 25 liters of toddy without a license. The liquor was destroyed on the spot.

In Ghatkesar, Lodi Sandeep was caught with 82 liters of illicit toddy. In another incident, 124 liters were seized from Lodi Mahender and Mada Ramesh. All individuals were arrested, and toddy samples were sent for laboratory testing. STF Team D, led by Nagaraju, raided three depots in Saroornagar, Ramanthapur, and Uppal. Samples from each location were collected for analysis.

On Saturday, special raids were carried out on toddy compounds at Lingampally and Siddiq Nagar. An unauthorized shop in Siddiq Nagar was seized, and a case was registered against the shop owner. Licensed shops in the area were also inspected, and samples were collected.

Inspections were also conducted by STF city team leader Venkateshwarlu in Balanagar, Moosapet, and Kaithalapur. Several samples from depots and toddy compounds were handed over to respective Circle Inspectors. CI Nagaraju’s team inspected three depots in Musheerabad and two in Kachiguda. Samples were collected and sent for testing.

At a review meeting held at Abkari Bhavan, Commissioner Hari Kiran directed officials to maintain strict vigilance over toddy operators throughout Telangana. He ordered immediate action against illegal manufacturing, transport, and sale of adulterated toddy. Following reports of negligence, the Station House Officer of Balanagar was suspended. The Commissioner instructed all district officers to stay alert and increase surveillance.

He highlighted the need to completely eliminate illegal liquor operations and reviewed excise-related crimes district-wise. Plans to set up 14 new excise stations were also discussed, along with arrangements for facilities and promotions from constable to head constable.

The meeting was attended by Additional Commissioner Syed Yasin Khureshi, Deputy Commissioners from Hyderabad, Ranga Reddy, Warangal, Karimnagar, Nalgonda, and Nizamabad, and Assistant Commissioners from Khammam and Medak, along with Enforcement Officer Pranavi.
