Former DU professor GN Saibaba passes away

Former Delhi University professor GN Saibaba passed away while undergoing treatment at NIMS hospital in Hyderabad on Saturday. He had not been keeping well for quite some time.

Earlier this year, Saibaba was released from the Nagpur Central Jail. The Bombay High Court set aside his life sentence after the prosecution failed to prove the charges and eventually, the English professor was acquitted in an alleged Maoist links case.

A decade ago, Maharashtra police arrested Saibaba on suspicion of having links to Maoist groups. Following his arrest, he was suspended from the college. In 2017, the Maharashtra sessions court found him guilty in the case. He was charged with having links with Maoist groups.
