Begumpet: St. Francis College for Women in Begumpet hosted an ethnic day celebration on Friday, January 24, 2025, titled "India: A Symphony of States," to celebrate the cultural diversity of India.

The event began with an address by Principal Dr. Uma Joseph, who expressed her happiness at seeing students in their traditional ethnic attire. She highlighted the importance of respecting cultural diversity and fostering tolerance for each other's differences.

Dr. Uma Joseph also spoke about the need to appreciate the beauty of the heart rather than focusing on outward appearances.

The Chief Guest for the day was award-winning documentary filmmaker Jennifer Alphonse, who recalled her time as a student at the college, sharing fond memories. She encouraged students to make the most of the day’s festivities. Renowned Telugu anchor and actor Ravi also attended, interacting with students and sharing stories from his youth. He expressed his joy at being part of the vibrant event.

The event featured the launch of college merchandise in the presence of the Principal and Ravi. Cultural performances included a dance medley representing different states of India, as well as a ramp walk where students and faculty showcased traditional attire from regions such as Uttar Pradesh, Manipur, Meghalaya, West Bengal, Coorg, Telangana, and Kerala.

Students also presented tableaus highlighting the food, arts, crafts, and GI tags from various regions. The celebration included performances from local artists and a traditional Kerala dhol troupe. The day concluded with a valedictory ceremony, where the best-dressed students and faculty, as well as the best tableau, were recognized.
