Hyderabad: Engineering student ends life after losing college fees in online games
Hyderabad: A 20-year-old student took his life by consuming insecticide after losing his college fees in online games. He was reportedly addicted to playing games online.
The deceased student was identified as Battini Ganesh, a third-year B.Tech. student at an engineering college in Ghatkesar, Hyderabad. Ganesh was a native of Kadarigudem village of Wardhannapet mandal, Warangal.
Ganesh’s father had passed away ten years ago and his mother Sandhya, who works as a field assistant in an employment guarantee scheme, was responsible for his fees. During the Dussehra festival, Ganesh had visited his mother and taken Rs, 80,000 from her to pay for his college fees, but he lost all the money in an online game. It was later discovered that he had also borrowed loans from his friends to continue playing online games.
Ganesh was deeply distressed after losing the hard-earned money, so he ended his life by consuming insecticide near the college. The police have gathered details about the incident and shifted the body to his native Kadarigudem for the last rites.
