Dumping of debris and garbage on Osman Nagar–Service Road raises civic concerns
Hyderabad: Residents have raised serious concerns over the ongoing dumping of construction debris and garbage along the Osman Nagar–Service Road. The illegal dumping has led to unhygienic conditions and a persistent foul smell, causing inconvenience to commuters and residents in the area.
Speaking to Hyderabad Mail, Ramana Eshwaragari, President of the Tellapur Neighbourhood Association (TeNA), said, “Unauthorized dumping of construction debris and garbage along the Osman Nagar–Service Road is a growing civic concern and has become a persistent public nuisance and environmental hazard.”
He pointed out that the road falls under a jurisdictional overlap, with parts of it governed by Tellapur Municipality and Kollur Police Station, and the remaining section by Narsingi Municipality and Mokila Police Station. “Due to this shared responsibility, enforcement and monitoring have been inconsistent, allowing this menace to grow unchecked,” he said.
Ramana Eshwaragari also noted that the Kollur Police had previously registered a case against a tractor involved in illegal dumping, proving that action is possible when the issue is prioritized. However, he added that dumping has resumed, underlining the need for regular surveillance, coordination between departments, and increased civic awareness.
“We are enclosing photographs taken today to show the current condition of the road,” he said. “We urge the authorities to take immediate action and prevent further environmental damage and obstruction to public roads.” Residents are calling on civic bodies and police departments to act swiftly to restore the area and protect public infrastructure and health.
