Drugs Seized at Quack’s Clinic in Siddipet
Telangana: The Drugs Control Administration (DCA) of Telangana raided the premises of an unqualified practitioner, H. Ramesh, in Thimmapur Village, Jagdevpur Mandal, Siddipet District. The raid, conducted on sunday, revealed that he was practicing without medical qualifications and stocking medicines without a drug licence. Officials seized 32 varieties of medicines, including antibiotics, steroids, analgesics, and IV fluids, valued at ₹50,000.
During the inspection, the DCA warned that misuse of antibiotics by unqualified persons can lead to antimicrobial resistance. The presence of steroids was also flagged as a major health risk due to potential effects such as immune suppression, hormonal imbalance, cardiovascular complications, and psychological issues. The raid was carried out by Drugs Inspectors Vinay Sushmi and Raja Reddy under the supervision of Assistant Director J. Raju. Samples were lifted for analysis, and further investigation is underway.
Advisory to Wholesalers and Public
The DCA issued a strong advisory to wholesalers and dealers against supplying medicines to quacks, unqualified persons, or unlicensed shops. Those found violating provisions of the Drugs and Cosmetics Act, 1940, will face penal action, which includes imprisonment of up to five years. Dealers are directed to verify the validity of drug licences before effecting supplies.
The public has been urged to report illegal stocking, sale, or suspected drug manufacturing activities, including narcotics and psychotropic substances, through the DCA’s toll-free number 1800-599-6969, operational from 10:30 am to 5:00 pm on all working days.
Director General Shahnawaz Qasim, IPS, issued the advisory on 25 August 2025.
