Dramatic rescue: HYDRAA rescues youth from drowning in Old City flood canal
Hyderabad: In a swift rescue operation, the Hyderabad Disaster Response and Asset Protection Agency (HYDRAA) team saved a 35-year-old man who fell into a flooded canal near Yakutpura Railway Station in the old city on Wednesday.
Local resident Mohammed Gouse accidentally slipped into the fast-flowing canal while attempting to collect tree branches for his goats. Eyewitnesses immediately alerted nearby HYDRAA personnel, who were clearing garbage in the Kachchamori area, just 100 meters away.
With the canal’s strong currents making direct entry impossible, the rescue team lowered a ladder into the water, allowing Gouse to grab hold and climb to safety. The operation was led by HYDRAA Inspector Balagopal, with support from staff members Vamshi and Balaraju. Rein Bazar Corporator Mohammed Wasayuddin also assisted in the rescue efforts. Gouse, shaken but unharmed, expressed gratitude to the rescuers. Locals praised HYDRAA’s rapid response.
