Film producer Dil Raju visits Chikkadpally police station amid Allu Arjun arrest drama
Chikkadpally: Film producer Dil Raju reached Chikkadpally police station to meet Allu Arjun, who was arrested in connection with the Sandhya Theatre stampede that led to a woman’s death. Meanwhile, Megastar Chiranjeevi, who planned to pay a visit to Chikkadpally police station, was reportedly asked to refrain.
Following the arrest of actor Allu Arjun in connection with the Sandhya Theatre stampede incident, he was shifted to Chikkadpally police station and later to Gandhi Hospital for a medical examination. He would later be taken to Nampally court to be presented before the magistrate.
Allu Arjun was arrested by Chikkadpally Police in connection with the stampede during the Pushpa 2: The Rule premiere at Sandhya Theatre, RTC Crossroads, Hyderabad on December 4, 2024. According to the police, at around 9:30 p.m. when Allu Arjun arrived with his security team, the crowd gathered to see the actor caused overcrowding in the lower balcony, where Revathi and her son suffocated.
“My wife named Revathi and son Sai Tej, in the lower balcony hall, couldn’t breathe and had fallen due to suffocation.The police rescued them and took them to Durga Bai Deshmukh hospital, but my wife was declared dead by duty doctor,”said Magudampalli Bhaskar in his complaint. Further, he added his son after First-Aid was shifted to KIMS Hospital, Begumpet for better treatment.
Bhaskar alleged, “The reason for the incident is because of Sandhya 70 MM Theatre management and staff and the crowd surge due to actor Allu Arjun and his personal security staff. Without prior arrangements and facilities, allowing the huge public into the theatre made us vacate the seats and pushed down, leading to my wife’s death. My son got admitted to the hospital.”
After the deceased woman's husband lodged a complaint, a case was filed against Allu Arjun, his security team, the theatre owner, and others. The case was registered under sections 105, 118(1) r/w 3(5) of the Bharatiya Nyay Sanhita Act.
Earlier, the Chikkadpally police arrested M. Sandeep (37), co-owner of Sandhya 70mm Theatre, M. Nagaraju (51), senior manager, and Gandhakam Vijay Chander (53), in charge of the lower balcony. After being presented in court, they were remanded to judicial custody.
