Diesel tanker overturns in Secunderabad, thousands of litres spilled
Secunderabad: A diesel tanker overturned on the Mettuguda Railway Station route in Secunderabad today, December 16, 2024, resulting in the spillage of thousands of litres of diesel.
The accident prompted an immediate response from authorities as passengers and motorists rushed to the scene. The police have issued an alert, advising motorists to avoid the route due to the hazardous fuel spill. Further details about the incident are awaited.
This incident follows a previous fuel spill on the busy Kushaiguda-Nagaram road, which caused several two-wheelers to skid and led to minor injuries for a few riders. Approximately 25 two-wheelers were affected, but fortunately, no major accidents occurred.
The fuel spill on the Kushaiguda-Nagaram road, caused by an oil tanker traveling from ECIL towards Keesara, created a dangerous slick on the road. By the time the Disaster Response Force (DRF) team from the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) and local police arrived, several motorists had already slipped.
The Kushaiguda police acted swiftly to divert traffic and spread sand and sawdust on the road to absorb the fuel.
