Ex-servicemen held for illegal sale of defence canteen liquor in Malkajgiri, Medchal

Hyderabad: In two separate raids, excise officials seized a total of 61 bottles of defence liquor being sold illegally and arrested two ex-servicemen.

In Malkajgiri, 37 bottles of liquor sourced from Karnataka were seized from Yapral and Kowkur. Acting on a tip-off, the team led by AES Mukund Reddy raided the premises and caught ex-servicemen Purushotham and Mupparapu Siddayya selling defence canteen liquor.

Officials said the men had been purchasing additional liquor beyond their quota and selling it illegally. The seized liquor is valued at ₹75,000.

The operation was conducted by AES Mukund Reddy, CI Bharath Bhushan, Excise SI Srinivas Reddy, and other staff. Excise Superintendent Naveen commended the team's efforts.

In a separate operation in Medchal, officials seized 24 bottles of liquor during checks in vehicle parking areas and near buses. The liquor was suspected to have been brought in by labourers from Haryana and other states. The seized bottles are estimated to be worth ₹48,000.

The raid was carried out by CI Navaneeth, AES Madhavayya, and DTF officer Narsireddy. Excise Superintendent S.K. Fayazuddin appreciated their work.
