Hyderabad: The Drugs Control Administration (DCA) of Telangana seized a large stock of antibiotics valued at Rs. 1.33 crores from the manufacturing facility of Jodas Expoim Pvt. Ltd., located in Biotech Park, Karakapatla, Siddipet District. The raid was carried out on November 26, 2024, based on credible information regarding the illegal export of antibiotics under false pretenses.

The seizure was made after DCA officials uncovered that the company was involved in exporting products manufactured by other pharmaceutical companies to Russia, falsely labelling them as their own. Additionally, unauthorised packing of antibiotics was found at the facility.

The raid took place at Biotech Park, Karakapatla, where officials discovered large quantities of antibiotics stored in the Finished Goods Warehouse.

Upon further investigation, it was revealed that a batch of Ampicillin + Sulbactam 1000 mg + 500 mg Injections (Batch No. JD4479), which contained 38,175 vials, had been falsely labelled as manufactured by Jodas Expoim Pvt. Ltd., India, and Alpa Laboratories Ltd.

However, the batch was actually produced by Indian Genomix Pvt. Ltd. in Medchal-Malkajgiri District, Telangana. This batch was being exported to Russia under the false claim of being produced by Jodas Expoim Pvt. Ltd.

In addition to this, other antibiotic stocks, including Amoxicillin 1000 mg + Clavulanic Acid 200 mg, Ampicillin + Sulbactam 2000 mg + 1000 mg, and Meropenem 500 mg, were also found to have been exported to Russia in October and November 2024, under false labels.

Different pharmaceutical companies originally manufactured these products but were fraudulently exported under the name of Jodas Expoim Pvt. Ltd.

The company was also found to have carried out unauthorised repacking of these antibiotics, which violates the provisions of the Drugs and Cosmetics Act, 1940.

The Drugs Control Administration officials, led by Assistant Director P. Ramu and Drugs Inspectors S. Vinay Sushmi, Ch. Karthik Siva Chaitanya, T. Shiva Teja, and P. Chandrakala, conducted the operation. Samples of the seized products have been sent for analysis, and further investigations are underway. Legal action will be taken against all individuals involved in this illegal activity.

V.B. Kamalasan Reddy, the Director General of the Drugs Control Administration, urged the public to report any suspicious manufacturing or illegal drug activities through the DCA's toll-free number, 1800-599-6969, which operates from 10:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. on working days.
