DCA raids uncover unauthorized drug sales, misleading Ayurvedic medicine claims

Hyderabad: The Drugs Control Administration (DCA), Telangana, conducted multiple raids and made a seizure of unauthorized medicines worth Rs. 1.51 lakhs from unlicensed premises in Sangareddy while uncovering misleading advertisements of Ayurvedic medicine in the Adilabad district.

Acting on a tip-off, DCA officials raided a residence at JP Colony, Patancheru Village, in Sangareddy district, where Bachu Sai Charan was allegedly storing and selling medicines without a proper license. The team discovered 54 varieties of medicines, including antibiotics, steroids, antidiabetic drugs, and other prescription medications. The market value of the stored drugs is near Rs. 1.51 lakhs. Subsequently, the DCA officials sent the samples for laboratory analysis.

In a separate operation in Ichoda Village, Adilabad district, DCA officials seized 'Mukta Vati Extra Power tablets,’ manufactured by Haridwar-based Divya Pharmacy.  The Ayurvedic medicine's labels claimed to treat high blood pressure. The business was being operated is a direct violation of the Drugs and Magic Remedies (Objectionable Advertisements) Act, 1954.
