Hyderabad: Hyderabad citizens are raising concerns over a dangerously hanging flexi banner near the Cyberabad Commissionerate office flyover, which they fear could lead to serious accidents. They are urgently demanding immediate action to remove the flexi and are requesting the Cyberabad police to file cases against the violators as per the law. Additionally, they are calling on the GHMC and HYDRAA teams to levy penalties to prevent such violations in the future.

The issue was brought to light by social activist Vinay Vangala on social media platform X (formerly Twitter), who questioned local authorities, saying, “Your people will place flexis and leave, but those flexis could fall on commuters. When will you think about this? Cyberabad CP and Madhapur CP, can you take action as per law? If it's once or twice, we can adjust, but every time? This is next to your office flyover.”

Speaking with the Hyderabad Mail, Vinay Vangala highlighted the issue of illegal flexi banners within Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) limits. He stated, “This flexi is damaged and could fall on commuters. The Hyderabad Disaster Response and Asset Protection Agency - Commissioner Enforcement and Vigilance Department team has not imposed penalties in the past, allowing violators to continue. This area is sensitive, as vehicles on this route often travel at high speeds, increasing the risk of accidents.”

Vinaya Vangala has called on the Cyberabad police to take legal action against the violators and urged the GHMC and CEC teams to impose penalties to deter future violations.

According to Section 125 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), individuals found guilty of actions that endanger the life or safety of others could face various penalties. General endangerment may result in up to three months in prison or a fine of up to 2,500 rupees. If harm is caused, penalties could reach six months in prison and a fine of up to 5,000 rupees. For grievous harm, punishments can escalate to three years in prison and fines of up to 10,000 rupees.

Additionally, under Section 324 of the BNS, an individual can be charged with mischief if they knowingly cause damage that threatens public safety or property.
