Cyberabad Women Safety Wing books 2 PITA cases, rescues 4 victims
HYDERABAD: The Cyberabad Women & Children Safety Wing continued its weekly enforcement and awareness activities between September 21 and September 27, focusing on the protection of women and children.
During the week, the Anti-Human Trafficking Unit (AHTU) registered two cases under the Prevention of Immoral Trafficking Act in the limits of Narsingi and Allapur police stations. Four victims were rescued and three accused persons were apprehended.
11 transgender people held in raids
Police conducted night raids in Gachibowli and Narsingi police stations and apprehended 11 transgender people. Officials held awareness programmes across Cyberabad, sensitising around 140 participants on issues such as human and child trafficking, eve-teasing, social media harassment, child marriages, child rights, child labour, stalking, begging, cyber bullying and cyber frauds. They shared information on helplines 181 (women), 1098 (child), Dial 100 and 1930 (cybercrimes).
SHE Teams book 27 petty cases
The SHE Teams of Cyberabad conducted 140 decoy operations and caught 27 men red-handed for indecent acts in public places. Petty cases were booked and counselling sessions were held for all respondents. The teams also received 21 complaints from women through different channels.As part of preventive measures, the team conducted 74 awareness programmes and held four counselling sessions at the Women & Children Safety Wing. At the Family Counselling Centre / CDEW Centre, counsellors counselled 23 families in disputes between couples, making efforts to facilitate reunions.
Suraksha Kavach workshop
As part of the Suraksha Kavach programme, DCP K Surjana and members of the Society for Cyberabad Security Council’s Children & Youth Forum organised a College Safety Workshop. The sessions covered cyber safety, mental wellbeing, substance abuse, and road safety, with an emphasis on forming student-led safety clubs. Colleges should nominate student representatives to coordinate with police and the SCSC for the initiative.
