Cyberabad Traffic Police nabs 528 drunk drivers in weekend crackdown
Hyderabad: Cyberabad Traffic Police weekend enforcement drive resulted in the apprehension of 528 motorists for driving under the influence of alcohol. The special operation, aimed at curbing drunk driving, revealed alarming figures, with offenders including 391 two-wheeler riders, 113 four-wheeler drivers, 22 three-wheeler operators, and 2 heavy vehicle drivers.
According to the official data revealed by the Cyberabad Traffic Police, as per the Blood Alcohol Concentration (BAC) tests categorized into three groups, 484 had BAC levels between 35–200 mg/100 ml, 27 recorded 201–300 mg/100 ml, and 17 showed dangerously high levels of 301–500 mg/100 ml.
Further breakdown of police station wise data revealed that RC Puram traffic police station stood first with 94 cases, followed by Miyapur(65),Gachibolwi(48), Narsingi(46) and other police stations amounting to 528 cases.
Cyberabad Police warned that drunk driving leading to fatal accidents could invoke Section 105 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, 2023 (Culpable Homicide Not Amounting to Murder), punishable with up to 10 years’ imprisonment and fines.
Further, Cyberabad Traffic Police urged all citizens to drive responsibly and ensure road safety for all.All offenders will be produced before the court, facing legal consequences.
