Cyberabad Traffic police nab 454 drunk drivers in weekend crackdown

Hyderabad: The Cyberabad Traffic Police, during an enforcement drive against drunk driving over the weekend, caught 454 offenders across the commissionerate. The operation showed concerning trends. A total of 372 two-wheeler riders made up most of the violations.

Shocking BAC levels detected

The Cyberabad Traffic Police shared data on Blood Alcohol Concentration (BAC) tests. Data analysis revealed that 367 drivers had BAC levels between 35-200 mg/100ml, 70 drivers fell between 201-300 mg/100ml, and 17 extreme cases had BAC levels from 301-500 mg/100ml.

Further, during the crackdown, 57 four-wheeler drivers, 22 three-wheeler drivers, and 3 heavy vehicle drivers were apprehended.

All offenders will be prosecuted in court, with stringent penalties under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), 2023.

Zero-Tolerance Warning

Cyberabad Police reiterate that driving under the influence of alcohol is a serious offence. "If anyone is found to be driving in an inebriated condition and causes a fatal accident, such individuals will be booked under Section 105 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, 2023 (Culpable Homicide Not Amounting to Murder). The maximum punishment under this section is 10 years of imprisonment along with a fine," read the statement released by Cyberabad Traffic Police.
