According to the complainant, the Government Double Bedroom Housing Scheme scam has been ongoing for several months and has affected a number of citizens who were promised benefits under this scheme. People have been duped for a huge amount.

Explaining the modus operandi of the accused, police said G. Sridhar cheated the victims by posing as a BRS party worker and pretending to be a close associate of Quthbullapur MLA, he showed some photographs of himself with political leaders.

“After gaining their trust, Sridhar promised victims benefits of the government double bedroom scheme. Further, victims were asked to pay processing fees, registration charges, and other expenses to avail of these benefits. However, the promised benefits never materialised, and the victims were left with significant financial losses,” said Cyberabad police.

The accused G. Sridhar, along with Pradeep Prasad, who works for a telecom company, made fake allotment letters. They used Photoshop to create these letters for the Government Double Bedroom Housing Scheme. Then, they gave these fakes to the victims, claiming they were real, police said.

The accused persons G Sridhar and Pradeep Prasad were apprehended at Godawari Homes, Suchitra, and seized some fake allotment letters, a car, a laptop, a computer, a web camera, a printer, a scanner, and two mobile phones that have been seized. The accused persons were produced before the court. Further investigation in the matter is underway.
