HYDERABAD: Cyberabad police have deported 23 foreign nationals found overstaying illegally, while deportation of 22 more is under process. 36 found without valid visas

At the site, police found 51 foreigners — 14 men and 37 women — from Uganda, Nigeria, Liberia, Botswana, Kenya, Cameroon, Mozambique, Zimbabwe, Ghana and Malawi. Verification showed 36 of them (seven men and 29 women) were staying without valid passports, visas or documents. On police request, the Foreigners Regional Registration Office (FRRO), Hyderabad, issued movement restriction orders, and the group was shifted to detention centres in Cyberabad and Hyderabad.

FRRO issues exit permits and one-time travel documents

Of these, 24 later produced passports. FRRO granted exit permits to 20, who were deported. Four remained in custody. Twelve others had only photocopies of passports. For three of them, police obtained one-time travel documents (OTDs) from embassies in Delhi and repatriated them. So far, authorities have deported 23 persons — 22 Ugandans and one Sudanese, including 20 women and three men. They have secured OTDs for six more, and they will deport them shortly. The remaining six — five Ugandans and one Cameroonian — will be deported once they receive embassy approvals.

Police have advised foreign nationals to ensure their passports and visas remain valid and to approach immigration officials for renewal. Landlords have been asked to verify tenants’ documents and re-check existing renters. “Cyberabad police will continue strict action against foreigners residing illegally,” said the DCP, Rajendranagar.
