Cyberabad police arrest choreographer Kanha Mohanty & three others in drug bust
Hyderabad: In a joint operation by the SOT-Cyberabad and Gachibowli Police, choreographer Kanha Mohanty and three others were arrested at a drug party held at Kanha Boutique Hotel on November 30, 2024. During the operation, the police seized MDMA, OG Kush, and Indian Charras.
The arrested individuals are Gulipalli Gangadhar, a 28-year-old stock market professional from Vishakapatnam, Andhra Pradesh, who is both an MDMA peddler and consumer; Kanha Mohanty, 24, a choreographer from Moosapet, Hyderabad, and native of Bhubaneswar, Odisha, who is involved in both consuming and peddling drugs; Kondam Priyanka Reddy, a 28-year-old architect from Madhapur, Hyderabad, arrested as a drug consumer; and 22-year-old job-seeker Ogirala Shaki, also from Madhapur, Hyderabad, who is similarly a drug consumer.
The authorities seized 18 grams of MDMA, 1 gram of OG Kush, 7 grams of Indian Charras, and six mobile phones from the group.
The incident occurred on November 30, 2024, at 5:30 p.m. in Room No. 303 of Kanha Boutique Hotel, and the arrests were reported later that evening at 9:00 p.m.
Police investigations revealed that Gangadhar and Kanha Mohanty had bought the drugs at low prices from an unknown source in Bangalore and were distributing them to other consumers. During questioning, they revealed that they had sold drugs to Priyanka Reddy and Ogirala Shaki, who had come to the party to purchase the substances.
The accused have been charged under Sections 8(C), 22(C), 27, and 29 of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (Amendment) Act. Police are continuing their investigation to identify additional individuals involved in the drug trade.
