Most offenders recorded moderate alcohol levels
Of the total, 354 motorists had blood alcohol concentration (BAC) between 35 mg/100 ml and 200 mg/100 ml, while 48 registered between 201 mg/100 ml and 300 mg/100 ml. Fourteen cases involved higher intoxication levels of 301 mg/100 ml to 550 mg/100 ml.

All offenders will be produced before the court. Police said those found driving in an inebriated condition and causing fatal accidents would be booked under Section 105 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, 2023 (Culpable Homicide Not Amounting to Murder), which carries a maximum punishment of 10 years’ imprisonment and fine.

Recent convictions and penalties
Between September 29 and October 4, a total of 51 drunk driving cases were disposed of by the courts. Forty-five offenders were fined, while six were sentenced to jail — four for one day and two for two days. Five others were directed to perform social service.

Cyberabad Police urged citizens to avoid drinking and driving, stressing that such offences endanger lives and carry serious legal consequences.
