CPI leader Chandu Naik shot dead in Hyderabad’s Malakpet Park
Hyderabad: The Communist Party of India (CPI) State Council member Chandu Naik was shot dead early Tuesday morning, July 15, 2025, at Salivahana Nagar Park in Malakpet, Hyderabad. The attack occurred around 7:30 a.m. while Chandu Naik was walking in the park.
According to reports, three to four men arrived in a white Swift car, sprayed chilli powder at Chandu Naik, and then opened fire as he tried to escape. He was hit multiple times and died at the spot.
Upon learning the incident, police teams reached the crime spot promptly and have registered a case. Forensic experts have collected evidence, and authorities are reviewing CCTV footage from nearby areas to identify the assailants. It was learnt that four rounds were reportedly fired during the attack.
Chandu Naik, originally from Achampet in Nagarkurnool district, was a known figure in left-wing politics and had long been associated with the CPI. His wife has further alleged that he had an ongoing dispute with Rajesh, a member of the CPI (ML) from Devaruppala, suggesting a possible internal political rivalry.
