Container lorry runs over family crossing road, father killed in Abdullapurmet

Hyderabad: A tragic incident occurred on July 6, 2025, when a container lorry ran over a family crossing the road near Inamguda in the Abdullapurmet area. The incident, which took place around 7 p.m., was captured on CCTV.

According to the reports, Srinivas (48), a resident of Yashoda Nagar Colony in Abdullapurmet, died on the spot. His wife Lakshmi, daughter Rajeshwari (19), and son Rambabu (17) were injured and rushed to a nearby hospital. Initial reports suggest the family attempted to cross the road without noticing oncoming traffic from the right.

In a separate incident, Sub-Inspector Rajeshwar (59), a resident of Chanikyapuri Colony in Sangareddy, died early Thursday morning in a road accident on National Highway 65 at Cheriyal, Kandi mandal.

Rajeshwar, who was serving at the Film Nagar Police Station in Hyderabad, was returning home after his duty at the Balkampet Bonalu Utsavalu when a speeding lorry collided with his car. He succumbed to his injuries at a private hospital during treatment.

Rajeshwar had joined the police force in 1990 and was recently posted at Film Nagar. He is survived by his wife and two children. His body was moved to the Sangareddy government hospital for postmortem. A case has been registered.

Earlier, on June 21, a 10-year-old boy, Jayashith Chauhan, died in a tragic accident in Allwyn Colony under the jurisdiction of the Jagathgirigutta Police Station in Medchal district.

The boy, who was riding his bicycle near his home, lost balance and fell onto the road. A school bus, arriving to pick up students, ran over him. He sustained critical injuries and was declared dead on arrival at the hospital.

The bus driver has been taken into custody, and police are reviewing CCTV footage as part of their investigation. The boy's body has been sent for postmortem.

In another incident, a fatal crash occurred on the Outer Ring Road in Medchal district, where a Bolero vehicle overturned after suffering a rear tire blowout. The crash occurred as the vehicle was traveling from Gandipet to LB Nagar.

One passenger, identified as Ravi from Odisha, died in the accident, while another occupant was seriously injured. The injured person was taken to Gandhi Hospital for treatment. Police have registered a case.
