Coldest night of January expected in Hyderabad tonight: Telangana Weatherman
Hyderabad: Telangana Weatherman, a well-known local weather expert, warned residents of Hyderabad to brace for a particularly cold night on January 8, 2025.
In a post on social media ‘X,’ previously known as Twitter, he (@balaji25_t) stated that tonight is expected to be the coldest night of January, with temperatures likely to drop to 5-7°C in North and West Telangana and 7-9°C in parts of Hyderabad.
He advised people to prepare for a chilly morning tomorrow as well and urged them to take necessary precautions against the cold.

The India Meteorological Department (IMD), Hyderabad has also issued its forecast for the day. It predicts a partly cloudy sky with light mist or hazy conditions that are expected to persist in the morning hours. The maximum temperature in the city is likely to reach around 29°C, while the minimum temperature will remain around 15°C. Winds will be light, blowing from the northeast at speeds of 6-8 km/h.
Looking ahead to the next 48 hours, the weather is expected to stay relatively unchanged. Partly cloudy skies and hazy conditions will likely continue in the mornings, with maximum temperatures around 30°C and minimum temperatures hovering around 16°C. Northeasterly winds will continue at speeds of 4-6 km/h.
This ongoing cold wave, which has gripped Telangana for the past month, has brought a significant drop in temperatures. On January 2, 2025, several areas in Hyderabad recorded temperatures as low as 11°C. Locations like the University of Hyderabad (11.0°C) and BHEL Factory in Ramachandrapuram (11.7°C) were among the coldest, while Uppal (12.1°C), Rajendranagar (12.3°C), and Gachibowli (13.3°C) also saw notably low temperatures. Malkajgiri recorded a minimum temperature of 15°C.
With this ongoing cold wave, residents are urged to take precautions, particularly during the early morning and evening hours when temperatures are at their lowest.
