Cyber fraud alert: Hyderabad resident loses Rs. 1.4L in coin sale scam via YouTube Ad
Hyderabad: A 68-year-old resident of Darul Shifa, Hyderabad, fell victim to a cyber fraud after responding to a misleading advertisement on YouTube. The ad falsely promised to buy a ₹20 coin for ₹50 lakh.
The victim contacted the number displayed in the video and was introduced to a man claiming to be "Raj Gyani." The fraudster initially demanded ₹1,500 to "create a file" and subsequently requested multiple payments under various pretexts.
Trusting the process, the victim transferred a total of ₹1,46,100. When the fraudster later demanded an additional ₹1,00,000, the victim realized it was a scam. The criminals had used phishing tactics and fake identities to exploit the senior citizen.

Authorities urge the public to be cautious of online scams promising large returns for everyday items like coins. Avoid transferring money to unknown individuals without proper verification. Be skeptical of extraordinary offers on social media or video platforms.
Cyber criminals often use emotional manipulation and false identities to gain trust. Preserve all communication, including messages, call records, and transaction proofs. Stay alert and protect yourself from online scams.
