60,050 kg of coconut powder seized at Akash Trading, Begum Bazaar for repacking violations
Hyderabad: The Telangana State Commissioner of Food Safety's Task Force team, along with the SOT Police, conducted a surprise inspection at Akash Trading Co. in the Begum Bazaar area on Friday, December 6, 2024.
During the inspection, authorities discovered that the Food Business Operators (FBOs) at the site were involved in the repacking of coconut powder under various brand names, which is suspected to be in violation of the Food Safety and Standards (FSS) Act, 2006.
The team also found that imported desiccated coconut powder was being mixed with loose, undessicated coconut powder, raising concerns about the product's safety and authenticity.
As a result, a total of 60,050 kg of coconut powder, valued at Rs. 92.47 lakh, was seized from the premises. Further action will be taken in accordance with the provisions of the FSS Act, 2006.
