Cockroach discovery in biryani shocks customers at Rail Coach Restaurant on Necklace Road
Hyderabad: A customer at Rail Coach Restaurant, located on Necklace Road, discovered a cockroach in his biryani on Monday, March 17, 2025. The customer, identified as Vijay, noticed the insect after consuming half of his meal.
Vijay, who was dining with friends, recorded a video of the incident and raised concerns about the restaurant's hygiene practices.
The customer also filed a complaint with food safety authorities, calling for action against the establishment.

This incident adds to a series of similar food safety violations reported across Hyderabad. In a separate case, a man discovered a cockroach floating in a mutton soup at the Arabian Mandi restaurant in Sainikpuri, which was served alongside mandi. The incident was highlighted by social activist Robin Zaccheus on the social media platform X (formerly Twitter). Zaccheus also raised concerns about the restaurant’s response, claiming the owner was rude and dismissive when confronted.
In another case, a customer found a cockroach in a juice glass ordered through Swiggy from Gourmet Shawarma. The incident was shared on social media, prompting a response from GHMC, which assured the public that the Food Safety team had been notified.
Additionally, a group of customers at Madhuram Tiffins in KPHB, near Nexus Mall, discovered cockroaches in the chutney served with their tiffins. Daya Arjun, one of the customers, posted about the incident on X, revealing that multiple people were affected. He also mentioned the presence of a washroom in the restaurant’s kitchen, suggesting concerns about sanitation.
