CM Revanth Reddy tears into Oppn over Musi riverfront project criticism
Hyderabad: Launching a scathing attack on Opposition particularly the Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) for opposing the Musi riverfront development project, Telangana chief minister A Revanth Reddy said the previous regime looted the state exchequer for 10 years and is now trying to halt the ambitious project.
He said after losing power the BRS leaders are in a state of frustration and asked them to desist from misleading the public regarding the Musi river project.
Addressing a press conference at Dr BR Ambedkar Telangana state secretariat on Thursday, the chief minister appealed to the masses to not believe the opposition’s statements as they are creating a wrong impression about the project in the minds of people.
He asserted that the ultimate goal of the Congress government is to improve the living conditions of those who have been living along the Musi River. Several groups have visited the catchment areas to see and understand the hardships of the residents. Our government is committed to support and give a dignified life to the poor people residing in the riverbed areas, he added.
“Not just beautification, the Musi riverfront development project is also aimed at helping the people of the catchment areas live better lives,” Revanth Reddy told reporters.
Recalling the forcible evictions of people in Mallanna Sagar and Vemulaghat areas during the BRS regime, Revanth Reddy stated his government would not force people out or use any coercion for evacuation. He further said the government is giving proper compensation including an allocation of double-bedroom homes to the affected families.
