1247 Children Rescued in Hyderabad Police Operation City-Wide Crackdown Targets Child Labour, Street Vulnerability
Hyderabad: The Hyderabad City Police, working with the Child Welfare Committee and other departments, concluded Operation Muskaan XI with the rescue of 1,247 children over the month of July. The operation focused on identifying children involved in illegal labour, begging, and those found in unsafe public spaces.
From July 1 to July 31, 2025, 28 divisional teams conducted inspections at commercial outlets, transit points, and construction areas. Of the rescued children, 673 are from Telangana, 560 from other Indian states, and 14 from Nepal.
Employers Face Legal Action, Heavy Fines Imposed
Police have filed 55 FIRs against individuals and businesses employing children illegally. Additionally, 939 cases were booked under the Minimum Wages Act, with fines totalling ₹47,75,921 imposed on non-compliant employers.
The operation was carried out under the supervision of Additional CP (Crimes) Sri Viswaprasad IPS. Initial planning and regular follow-ups helped coordinate efforts between police units, child protection agencies, and NGOs. Further steps are being taken to ensure continued enforcement and child protection.
