Chevella: Speeding lorry ploughs into veggie vendors, several killed

Chevella: In a ghastly road accident, at least four people were killed and 10 others critically injured when a lorry driver allegedly drove recklessly and crashed into them. The incident occurred near Aluru gate in Chevella of Vikarabad on Monday afternoon.

At the time of the accident, at least 50 vegetable vendors were selling their produce by the roadside on Hyderabad-Bijapur highway. Many tried to flee upon seeing the speeding lorry heading toward them, but the vehicle ploughed into the vendors and later crashed into a tree before coming to a halt. Due to the impact, the front portion of the lorry was badly damaged and it left the driver trapped inside the cabin.

Upon receiving an emergency call, the police rushed to the scene and shifted the injured persons to Chevella government hospital where they are undergoing treatment. The deceased have been identified as Ramulu (Aluru), Prem (Aluru) and Sujatha (Khanapur).
