Similar complaints were reported from Kranthi Nagar Colony and KRCR Colony. “The smell is strong and unbearable,” said a KRCR resident. Another local from Balaji Enclave described it as “horrible,” while a family that moved from Madinaguda to Mallampet expressed regret, citing the worsening air quality.

Gopi Krishna, a long-time resident of KRCR Colony, noted that the issue has persisted for years. “Even our MLA and local leaders participated in environmental protests organized by Haritha Vanam, but no concrete steps have been taken,” he said. Krishna alleged that unauthorized bulk drug manufacturers are violating regulations by discharging untreated effluents. He believes the source of the pollution may be industrial areas near Bollaram.

Residents from Ameenpur, located nearby, have also reported similar issues. The chemical odor in that area reportedly worsens during the late afternoon, especially between 3:30 p.m. and 6:30 p.m. This problem has been ongoing for over a year.

Residents continue to demand immediate investigation and accountability from the authorities to ensure safer living conditions.
