Chaknavadi nala collapses again in Goshamahal; Residents demand immediate action
Hyderabad: On January 10, 2025, a crusher lorry once again plunged into a collapsed section of the Chaknavadi nala road in Goshamahal, highlighting the ongoing issues with the area’s infrastructure.
The incident occurred when the nala suddenly collapsed, trapping the lorry. The driver, who survived the incident, managed to escape without injury, but the collapse raised concerns about the safety of the area.
Local residents expressed growing frustration, claiming that authorities have not acted on their repeated requests to address the deteriorating condition of the nala. They pointed out that the nala has been under construction for a long time but remains incomplete. "The nala is 800 meters long, but only 50 percent of the work has been completed. We've informed the Executive Engineer and the Deputy Commissioner, but there has been no progress. The unfinished nala poses a serious risk, and we fear for the safety of school buses and other vehicles. We urge the authorities to finish the work as soon as possible," said one resident.
Earlier, on October 23, 2024, a section of the road near Chaknavadi along the nala also collapsed unexpectedly in the early hours of the morning, causing panic among locals and commuters.
The collapse occurred around 2 a.m. near plywood shops, on the road leading to Darussalam and Chaknavadi. This incident followed a similar collapse 200 meters away, where another section of the sewerage nala had also given way.
Residents have raised concerns about the state of the infrastructure and warned that they are prepared to protest if the issue is not addressed without delay.
