Hyderabad shocker: Man brutally attacks pregnant wife with cement brick in Gachibowli

Hyderabad: A brutal attack on a pregnant woman by her husband at Gachibowli has sent shockwaves across Hyderabad. Though the incident occurred on Tuesday night, April 1, 2025, the matter came to light after the CCTV footage surfaced on social media platforms on Monday.

In the video, the victim identified as Shabana Parveen is shown repeatedly smashed with a cement brick allegedly by her husband Mohammed Basrath outside a hospital in Gachibowli area. She was discharged from a private hospital after getting treatment for vomiting. The couple got into an altercation when Basrath came to take her home.

The footage starts with a heated argument between the couple on the road. Subsequently, an enraged Basrath approaches her and pushes her to the ground and smashed a brick on her head and stomach multiple times, following a heated argument. He then fled from the spot leaving her writhing in pain on the road.

Upon receiving the information, the police rushed to the spot and shifted her to Nizam’s Institute of Medical Sciences (NIMS) where she is undergoing treatment for the critical injuries. According to doctors, she’s slipped into a coma with critical head injuries.

Later, Gachibowli police registered a case and the accused husband was taken into custody. He was produced in court and remanded in judicial custody.

As per the reports, Shabana, originally from Kolkata, met Basrath, a native of Vikarabad, who was working as an interior designer in Hyderabad and they had a love marriage in October 2024. Due to frequent quarrels of Shabana with her in-laws, Basrath left his parents’ house allegedly due to his wife’s pressure and started living separately with his wife in a rented house in Adityanagar, Hafeezpet.
