Candidate disqualified for cheating in Telangana Group-1 Mains exam in Ranga Reddy
Ranga Reddy District: A female candidate was disqualified from the Telangana Group-1 mains examination held on October 25, 2024, at CVR College of Engineering in Mangalpalli, Ranga Reddy District, after being caught cheating. The exam, specifically for Paper IV: Economy and Development, involved the candidate attempting to copy answers from her left palm.
According to Dr. E. Naveen Nicolas, Secretary of the Telangana State Public Service Commission (TGPSC), the invigilator detected the malpractice before the distribution of question papers. The candidate was also found with suspicious material hidden in her saree, which was deemed irrelevant to the exam content.
Dr. Nicolas stated, “The information found with her has no relevance to any of the questions. In line with Notification No. 02/2024 and the Malpractice Case Act 25/97, we are initiating appropriate action against her.”
The candidate, identified as a teacher from Mahabubnagar, will face consequences in accordance with TGPSC regulations.

The Group-I Services Mains examination took place in 46 centers across Hyderabad, Ranga Reddy, and Medchal-Malkajgiri districts. Preliminary figures show that 31,383 candidates were registered for the exam, with 21,195 present, resulting in an attendance rate of 67.4%. This includes 20 sports candidates who were granted permission to participate by the Hon'ble High Court.
The examination session ran from 2:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m., and officials reported the process was conducted smoothly despite the incident.
