Hyderabad: A few hours after Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) working president K.T. Rama Rao (KTR) announced legal action against media reports for allegedly running a smear campaign against him and his party.  BRS party members attacked Mahaa news channel. Meanwhile, Telangana Congress chief Mahesh Kumar Goud condemned the attack on the Mahaa News office. He said it was an assault on democratic values.

In a fiery social media post, KTR accused certain media houses of spewing venom against BRS leadership through character assassination. While claiming indifference to their opinions, he expressed concern over the impact on his family and colleagues.

"I will be taking legal action on each and everyone of them. And I am fully aware of who is behind these organised attempts, and will deal with them appropriately," said KTR.

Following an attack in another social media post, KTR urged BRS supporters to stay calm, “I request my brothers and sisters of @BRSparty to stay calm and trust the legal process. I understand your agony, respect, and your love for me and the party."

He targeted Chief Minister Revanth Reddy, calling him a ‘third-rate thief’ in reference to the 2015 cash-for-vote case. He further requested BTS supporters to trust the legal process while focusing on questioning the Congress government’s "unfulfilled #420Promises."

Meanwhile, the Hyderabad police reached the spot, dispersed the crowd, and registered a case, further investigation is underway.

Congress condemns attack on Maha News

In a separate development, TPCC President and MLC Mahesh Kumar Goud denounced the attack on Maha News headquarters as ‘heinous and undemocratic’. The channel, known for its coverage of the phone-tapping scandal, reportedly faced vandalism.

Goud emphasized that disputes with the media should be addressed legally, not through violence. ‘Attacks on press freedom undermine democracy,' he said, demanding strict action against the perpetrators.
