Video: BRS MLA Padi Kaushik Reddy arrested by Karimnagar police in Hyderabad
Hyderabad: Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) MLA Padi Kaushik Reddy was arrested by the Karimnagar police near Jubilee Hills checkpost on Monday evening. The police told him that he was being arrested in connection with a case registered in Karimnagar.
As per reports, the BRS leader will be first taken to Karimnagar One Town police station and later he will be produced before the magistrate for remand.
Karimnagar police along with their Jubilee Hills counterparts were waiting for the BRS leader Kaushik Reddy to come out of a panel discussion at a new channel in Jubilee Hills. As soon as he exited the channelโs premises, the police took him into custody and drove away.
Earlier, Kaushik Reddy participated in a review meeting held at the Karimnagar collectorate held to review the development works in the united Karimnagar district on Sunday. The review meeting witnessed a heated exchange between BRS MLA Padi Kaushik Reddy and Jagtial MLA Dr. Sanjay Kumar over the latterโs political affiliation as he defected from the BRS to the Congress last year.
When Jagtial MLA was speaking during the meeting, Kaushik Reddy stood up and asked which party he represented. He demanded that Sanjay Kumar should clarify to which he belongs to before speaking in the meeting. As Kumar continued speaking, the BRS MLA went up to Kumar and tried to snatch the mike from him which led to a heated exchange of words at the meeting.
The verbal confrontation escalated when Kaushik Reddy allegedly used abusive language against Dr. Sanjay. The situation became tense, and the police had to intervene, escorting Kaushik Reddy out of the meeting. The video clip of the scuffle quickly went viral on social media.
Later Kaushik Reddy told media persons that the state government allegedly failed in fulfilling its promises to farmers, particularly concerning the Rythu Bharosa scheme. He also stated that in Karimnagar, at least Rs. 15,000 should be provided to the farmers under the Rythu Bharosa programme, however, nothing has been given in the last two seasons.
