BRS accuses congress of hypocrisy over electoral bonds controversy

The Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) party in Hyderabad has accused the Congress party of hypocrisy regarding electoral bonds. The BRS alleges that while the Congress is investigating electoral bond donations in Telangana, it itself received a significant sum (Rs. 1,351 crores) from 340 companies nationwide through the same mechanism. The BRS specifically highlighted a Rs. 27 crore donation to Congress by Green Co., pointing out that this donation predates the Formula One event which is currently under investigation. The BRS questioned why the ACB report submitted to the High Court made no mention of Green Co. The BRS leaders also criticized the ACB investigation into KTR, claiming it was a tactic to harass him and divert attention from issues like agriculture and unfulfilled promises to farmers. They emphasized that the ACB should investigate similar donations to the Congress in other states, including those received under the leadership of Mallikarjuna Kharge.

The BRS leaders addressed the electoral bonds controversy. They released data on funding received by Indian National Congress(INC) through electoral bonds stated Green Co. had provided bonds to multiple political parties, including a Rs. 27 crore donation to Congress. They questioned why the 200-page ACB report submitted to the High Court made no mention of Green Co., noting the company's electoral bonds predated the Formula One event.

BRS questions ACB investigation's omission of Green Co.

BRS leaders questioned if the Congress's allegations in Telangana about electoral bonds should also prompt ACB investigations into similar donations to the party in other states, including those received under National Congress President Mallikarjuna Kharge's leadership.

Speaking on the ACB investigation, Jagadish Reddy noted that KTR waited 45 minutes on the road without legal representation. He claimed this incident, occurring despite KTR's attendance during a family event, demonstrated the government's harassment tactics.

Regarding the Formula One case, they added that it was unreasonable to expect KTR to produce documentation since all relevant files are with the current government. They characterized ongoing investigations as "puppet investigations" to divert attention from agricultural issues and unfulfilled promises to farmers.
