Traffic diversions announced in Hyderabad for Bonalu Festival on July 20–21
Hyderabad: Hyderabad Police have announced extensive traffic diversions across the city for the Bonalu Festival scheduled on July 20 and 21, 2025. These measures are in place to facilitate the smooth conduct of the Simha Vaahini Sri Mahankali Lal Darwaza Bonalu processions in the Old City on July 21, between 11:00 AM and 11:00 PM.
Vehicles coming from Enginebowli and Falaknuma will not be permitted to proceed towards Aliyabad. Instead, they will be diverted at the New Shamsheergunj "T" junction towards Goshala, Tadban, Misri Gunj, or Khilwath. Similarly, traffic arriving from MBNR X Road will be redirected at Engine Bowli towards Jahanuma, Goshala, Tadban, or Misri Gunj, with no access to Aliyabad. Vehicles also coming from Nagulchinta and Sudha Talkies will be diverted at Nehru Mode towards Sudha Talkies via Gowlipura, preventing movement towards Lal Darwaza Temple. Traffic from Gowlipura intending to reach Lal Darwaza will be rerouted at Sudha Talkies towards Mirchowk via Hari Bowli.
Additionally, vehicles coming from Pancha Mohalla near Charminar will not be allowed to proceed towards Nagulchinta and will instead be diverted towards Hari Bowli, Voulga Hotel, and Misrigunj. Traffic from Rajanna Bowli heading to Lal Darwaza temple will be rerouted at Venkateshwar Swamy Temple lane towards Ramaswamy Gunj. Vehicles approaching from Kandikal Gate will be diverted at the OP Chatrinaka Police Station "Y" junction towards Gowlipura, with access to Lal Darwaza Temple Road restricted. Similarly, vehicles from Balagunj will be diverted at the Laxmi Devi Pan Shop towards Nehru Statue Nagulchinta Junction, with no permission to proceed towards Lal Darwaza Temple.
Traffic coming from Uppuguda and Chatrinaka via Gowlipura will be diverted at Balraj Jewelers point towards Moghalpura Police Station, avoiding the Mohammed Shukoor Mosque area. Vehicles moving from Kandikal Gate flyover to Chatrinaka OP will be diverted towards VN Reddy Kaman and Uppuguda Janda. Heavy vehicles traveling from Old Chandrayangutta to Chatrinaka will be barred and rerouted towards Santoshnagar and Chandrayangutta.
Traffic from Fateh Darwaza will not be allowed towards Himmatpura X Roads or Rajesh Medical Hall and will be diverted at Volga Hotel "T" junction towards Khilwath Road. Vehicles from Gowlipura will be rerouted at Mohammed Shukur Mosque towards Mirchowk via Volga Hotel, Moghalpura, and Ethabar Chowk, avoiding Sudha Theater. Traffic coming from Chatrinaka OP towards Gowlipura will be diverted at Gandhi Statue towards Sri Ram Nagar Colony, CIB Quarters, Sulthan Shahi, Lalitha Bagh, and Moghalpura.
Further, vehicles coming from Meer-ka-Daira and Moghalpura will be barred from proceeding towards Hari Bowli "X" Roads and will be rerouted towards Moghalpura Water Tank area. Traffic approaching Charminar main road from Asra Hospital side and Moghalpura Water Tank will be diverted towards Bibi Bazar. Vehicles from Bhavani Nagar and Mirjumla Talab will not be permitted to approach Charminar and will be rerouted at Bibi Bazar X Roads towards Alijah Kotla (Miralam Mandi Road).
Traffic from Alijha Kotla and Moghalpura areas via Sardar Mahal Road will be diverted at Chowk Maidan Khan towards Hafiz Danka Masque and Arman Hotel via Sri Gayatri College and Alijha Kotla. Vehicles from Yakutpura will be rerouted at Ethabar Chowk towards Mir Alam Mandi and Alijha Kotla Road, restricted from proceeding towards Gulzar House.
Vehicles from Purani Haveli heading towards Tipu Khana Masjid via Chatta Bazar will be diverted at Lakkad Kote "X" Roads towards APAT Junction or Dar-ul-Shifa. Traffic from Chadrghat, Noorkhan Bazar, S.J Rotary, and Shivaji Bridge will not be allowed towards Salarjung Museum Road and will be diverted at S.J Rotary towards Purani Haveli Road, Shivaji Bridge, and Chadrghat. Vehicles coming from Khilwath Road or Moosabowli Road will be diverted at Motigalli "T" junction towards Khilwat Playground or Moosabowli, with no access to Laad Bazar.
Traffic from Bandi ke Adda and Ghansi Bazaar will be redirected at Mitte-Ke-Sher (Sher-E-Batul Kaman) towards Ghansi Bazaar and Chelapura, barred from heading towards Gulzar House. Vehicles from Ghansi Bazaar and Chelapura will be diverted at Ghansi Bazaar towards Chelapura, avoiding Chakram Adda.
Vehicles from Puranapul, Goodwill Hotel, and Moosabowli will not be permitted to proceed towards Nayapool via High Court Gate No-1 along the Musi River and will be diverted at Muslimjung Bridge towards Bhoolaxmi Temple, Begum Bazar, and Chatri. Traffic from Gowliguda and Siddiamber Bazaar heading towards Nayapool will be rerouted at Afzalgunj towards Muslimjung Bridge via Osmania General Hospital backside road along the Musi River or Shivaji Bridge.
The main road between Madina X Roads and Engine Bowli, passing through Gulzar House, Charminar monuments, Charminar Bus Terminal, Himmatpura, Nagulchinta, and Aliabad, will be closed to all vehicular movement until the conclusion of the Bonalu processions.
Regarding parking arrangements, devotees coming from the Aliabad side are advised to park their vehicles in single line at Devi Plywood opposite the Post Office in Shalibanda and the open area near Alka Theatre. Those arriving from Hari Bowli and Gowlipura can park at Arya Vyshya Mandir, Sudha Theater lane, Alka Theatre open place, VDP School Ground, and Mithra Sports Club. Devotees coming from Old P.S. Chatrinaka side are advised to park within the premises of Sree Venkateswara Temple in Laxmi Nagar and at Phoolbagh Chaman Ground near Pattar Ki Dargah.
Devotees coming from Moosabowli and Mirchowk should use the Charminar Bus Terminal parking facilities. Procession vehicles will have designated single line parking at Delhi Gate. TG and APSRTC buses will not be allowed to proceed towards Charminar, Falaknuma, and Nayapool. These buses will terminate at Old CBS, Afzalgunj, Darulshifa X Roads, Chatrinaka, and Engine Bowli and will use alternate open routes. Authorities have urged commuters and devotees to cooperate and plan their travel accordingly during the festival to avoid inconvenience.
