Secunderabad: Motorist abuses traffic police during routine check in Bowenpally, arrested

Hyderabad: High drama unfolded when a traffic policeman stopped a motorist during a vehicle inspection drive in Secunderabad's Bowenpally area on Saturday. The biker allegedly abused and attempted to assault the traffic police official.

The Traffic Sub-Inspector Vijay Kanth and his team had set up a checkpoint near Pullareddy Bungalow in Bowenpally to carry out routine inspections. A police official stopped one motorist identified as Shoaib, who was coming from Bapuji Nagar and heading towards Bowenpally X roads on his Royal Enfield motorcycle.

Trouble reportedly began when the Sub-Inspector asked Shoaib to produce his vehicle documents and questioned him about the ‘focus lights’ fitted on his bike. This question allegedly enraged the biker who then started yelling at the police officer and demanded that the officers not touch his vehicle. He allegedly used abusive language and attempted to physically attack the officers, according to the police.

Later, Shoaib claimed that it was the traffic police official who assaulted him and said he had done nothing wrong. Upon receiving information about the altercation, Bowenpally police reached the spot and took the biker into custody. He was shifted to the police station for further inquiry.

“We stopped the vehicle during a routine vehicle check drive and questioned him about the illegal focus lights on his bike. This enraged him and he started abusing us and tried to attack us,” said SI Vijay Kanth.

A similar incident recently occurred under the Panjagutta police station limits, in which a man named Afraz allegedly misbehaved with Traffic SI Mojiram after being stopped near Taj Krishna Hotel. He was subsequently arrested, and a case was registered against him for misbehaving and obstructing the officer on duty.
