Hyderabad: The Commissioner’s Task Force, North Zone, in coordination with the Bandlaguda Police, arrested four individuals for allegedly cheating nearly 30 people by promising government-allotted double bedroom flats in Bandlaguda. The accused collected approximately ₹42.35 lakh from victims and issued fake allotment letters bearing forged seals and signatures.

The key accused, Mohd Ahmed, 25, a resident of Ghouse Nagar in Bandlaguda, was reportedly working as an AC technician and part-time real estate broker. Unable to earn enough through his profession, he devised a plan to exploit the Telangana Government’s Double Bedroom Housing Scheme. With the help of his associate, Mohd Amjad alias Munavar, 21, from Ismail Nagar, Bandlaguda, Ahmed began targeting unsuspecting people, claiming he could secure them flats under the government scheme.

The duo then approached Kothakota Raj Kumar Reddy alias Raju, 33, who worked as a supervisor at a government construction site in Bandlaguda where 2BHK flats were being built. Raju’s involvement helped the group gain the trust of potential victims. He would take them to the site, show them the ongoing construction, and reinforce the claim that the flats could be allotted to them soon. For this, Raju received a commission from Ahmed for every victim brought in.

Later, another associate, Mir Kousar Ali alias Siraj, 32, a tea seller from Golconda and a relative of Ahmed, joined the racket. He referred several individuals from the Golconda area on a commission basis. Over time, the gang expanded its operations to areas such as Amberpet, Mangalhat, Madannapet, Nallakunta, and Attapur.

The accused charged each victim between ₹50,000 and ₹2,22,000, promising swift allotment of flats. Ahmed created fake allotment letters by editing genuine documents using a mobile app called PicsArt. He would replace the names with those of the victims and affix forged seals of the Revenue Department along with a fake signature of the Hyderabad RDO. These fabricated letters were handed over to the victims to make the scam appear legitimate.

Based on credible information, a joint operation was conducted today by the North Zone Task Force and Bandlaguda Police. The four accused were apprehended, and the police seized eleven fake allotment order copies, six forged stamps, four mobile phones, and ₹5.5 lakh in cash.

The arrest operation was led by Inspector Raghavender of the North Zone Task Force, along with Inspector Gurunath of Bandlaguda Police Station, Sub-Inspectors P. Gnanadeep, C. Raghavender Reddy, Nagaraj Reddy, and constables Sagar and Imran. The investigation is ongoing to identify more victims and uncover any additional links in the case.
