Fire breaks out at plastic unit in Balanagar

Hyderabad: A fire broke out early this morning, July 28, 2025, at a plastic manufacturing unit in Balanagar. Upon learning the incident, fire department teams reached the spot quickly and managed to bring the blaze under control after several hours of effort.

According to the reports, the unit was unoccupied at the time, and no injuries were reported. Officials said the absence of workers helped prevent a major mishap. The cause of the fire is under investigation.

This incident comes amid a spate of industrial and commercial fires reported across Hyderabad this month. On July 17, a fire broke out at a factory in Sanathnagar that manufactures plastic and paper plates. Thick smoke was seen across the area, causing panic among residents and workers. Five fire engines were deployed, and firefighters brought the situation under control. There were no casualties.

A day earlier, on July 16, a fire erupted at a potato chips godown in Papireddy Nagar, Jagadgirigutta. The fire damaged property extensively but caused no injuries. Police suspect a short circuit. The godown contained large amounts of plastic, fibre, and other flammable materials, which may have accelerated the blaze.

On July 12, an auto carrying chemicals caught fire near the LB Nagar Commissioner of Police Camp Office. Traffic was briefly disrupted. Firefighters extinguished the flames quickly. No injuries were reported.

On July 10, a fire broke out at Tirupati Rubber Company in Netaji Nagar, Katedan Industrial Area. The factory, which manufactures rubber products, released thick smoke visible from a distance. Firefighters, along with local police and the Disaster Response Force, took several hours to bring it under control. No casualties were reported.

Earlier, on July 3, a fire started in the kitchen of a Café Coffee Day outlet inside the Krish Inn Hotel near the SR Nagar Traffic Police Station. People on the upper floors were evacuated safely. No injuries were reported.
