Residents raise concern over potholes and poor drainage on Bachupally–Mallampet Road
Hyderabad: Residents of Hyderabad have raised serious concerns over the condition of the Bachupally–Mallampet Radial Road near ORR Exit 4A, which they say turns into a virtual riverbed after every rainfall due to the absence of drainage. The road is riddled with potholes, causing accidents and vehicle damage, and posing a threat to public safety.
The issue was brought to light on social media platform X (formerly Twitter) by social activist Maharshi Teja Jalla (@Maharshiteja), who posted, “#Bachupally - #Mallampet #ORREXIT4A Radial Road looks like riverbed than main road after every rain. Zero drainage. Countless potholes. Absolute chaos. #FixOurRoads.” He tagged key officials and departments including @TelanganaCMO, @HMDA_Gov, @HYDTP, and @CYBTRAFFIC.
Maharshi Teja Jalla highlighted the dangerous stretch near Mallampet ORR Exit-4A, especially around the Ratnadeep area, saying the road's poor condition is leading to frequent accidents and endangering lives. “How many lives must be at risk before action is taken?” he questioned.
Other commuters echoed his concerns. YBR Krishna Rao commented, “Roads are very dangerous. They have to keep them in condition.” Aditya Praveen added, “It's horrible.” Sai Prasad Joshi also posted on X, highlighting the toll the road is taking. “The pothole-filled road is damaging vehicles and our backs very badly. Please expedite the road work. How long do we have to suffer for your negligence?”
Despite repeated appeals from residents and daily commuters, no visible action has been taken by civic authorities. Locals say the road remains neglected, and accidents are becoming more frequent.
