Hyderabad: The Drugs Control Administration (DCA) of Telangana seized two medicines on January 22, 2025, for making misleading claims in violation of the Drugs and Magic Remedies (Objectionable Advertisements) Act, 1954. Rheuam Liniment and Stolist Capsules were marketed with unsubstantiated claims that they could treat 'Rheumatism' and 'Urinary Stones', respectively.

During the raids, DCA officials discovered the following:

Rheuam Liniment (Ayurvedic medicine), claimed to treat Rheumatism, was manufactured by Maheshwari Pharmaceuticals (I) Ltd., Haridwar, Uttarakhand. The product was found in Asifabad.

Stolist Capsules (Ayurvedic medicine), claimed to treat Urinary Stones, are manufactured by Bhrigu's Pharma, Gari Udhamgarh, Haryana, and produced for Biophar Naturals, Chandigarh. The product was found in Medchal.

Under the Drugs and Magic Remedies (Objectionable Advertisements) Act, advertising medicines for the treatment of specific diseases such as Rheumatism and Urinary Stones is prohibited.

Drugs Inspectors G. Aswani and B. Mounika led the raids in Asifabad and Medchal, respectively. Further investigation is underway, and legal action will be taken against those responsible for the misleading advertisements.

V.B. Kamalasan Reddy, Director General of DCA, has urged the public to report any suspected illegal activities involving drugs by calling the DCA’s toll-free number, 1800-599-6969, which operates from 10:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. on working days.
