Amazon Web Services to invest Rs. 60,000 crore in Telangana to expand data center infrastructure
Hyderabad: Telangana has secured a major investment from Amazon Web Services (AWS), which has committed ₹60,000 crore to expand its data center infrastructure in the state. The announcement was made at the World Economic Forum in Davos, following a meeting between AWS’s Michael Punke, VP of Global Public Policy, and Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy Anumula and IT & Industries Minister Sridhar Babu.
This investment is part of AWS’s ongoing expansion in India, which already includes a $1 billion investment in three operational centers in Telangana. AWS has plans to invest a total of $4.4 billion in the state by 2030. The Telangana government will support this growth by facilitating additional land for the development of the new data centers.
Chief Minister Revanth Reddy hailed the deal as a significant milestone in Telangana’s growth, stating, "Global businesses like Amazon have placed their confidence in us, marking a key moment in our Telangana Rising Vision."
Minister Sridhar Babu added that with this new investment, Hyderabad is set to become a key hub for data centers in India and a global leader in cloud services, including artificial intelligence.
