Attention Diversion Offender Nabbed in Hyderabad
Accused Posed as GHMC Vigilance Official
The crime staff of Warasiguda Police Station, East Zone, Hyderabad, apprehended an attention diversion offender in Crime No. 180/2025 registered under Sections 204, 318(4), 319(2), 351(2), 305 of BNS. The accused, identified as Ghouse Khan alias Aftab Khan, 33, a mutton worker residing beside Noori Mohammidya Mosque, LN Nagar, Hyderabad, was arrested for impersonating a GHMC Vigilance official. Police recovered two butcher knives, a blue shirt, a wireless set of AVOFELG make, a Vivo mobile phone, ₹4,300 cash, and a bike bearing registration number AP11N4850 from him.
Crime and Arrest Details
On August 26, 2025, at around 5:30 p.m., the accused entered a mutton shop wearing a mask and helmet, carrying a wireless set, and claimed to be from the GHMC Vigilance department. He threatened the worker, stole two butcher knives and ₹4,300 cash, and fled the spot. Based on community CCTV footage, the accused was identified. Acting on reliable information, police apprehended him at Warasiguda X road on August 31, 2025. During questioning, he admitted to the crime, and the stolen property along with his vehicle was recovered.
The operation was carried out under the supervision of DCP East Zone B Bala Swamy, Addl. DCP East Zone J Narsaiah, and ACP Chilkalguda Division A Shashank Reddy. Inspector A Madhu Sudhan Reddy led the team with assistance from Detective Inspector A Purendhar Reddy, Sub Inspectors K Gopal and T Sudhakar, and crime staff including PC HC 3042 MD Galeb, PC 9753 MD Dasthagir, PC 5539 S Venu, and HC 5551 G Rajitha. The team members will be rewarded for their efforts.
