ASP succumbs, Toll 3 in NH-65 accident involving AP Intelligence officers

Hyderabad: The death toll in a road accident on National Highway 65 near Khaitapuram has risen to three, following the death of an Additional Superintendent of Police (ASP) who succumbed to his injuries on Wednesday morning. The accident, which occurred under the Rachakonda commissionerate, claimed the lives of two Deputy Superintendents of Police (DSP) from the Andhra Pradesh Intelligence Department on the spot.

Going further into details on 26 July 2025, a police team comprising DSPs Chandrakar Rao and Shanta Rao, along with ASP Prasad and head constable Narsing Rao, was on their way to Hyderabad for some work in a car. 

When their vehicle reached near Khaitapuram, the driver applied a sudden brake to avoid hitting a vehicle ahead. In the process, the Scorpio hit a road divider, veered into the opposite lane, and collided head-on with an oncoming lorry. Locals rushed to the spot and pulled the injured cops from the mangled car, who were shifted to Kamineni Hospital in Hyderabad. 

The deceased have been identified as Intelligence DSP Chakradhar Rao and DSP Shantharao. Additional SP Prasad and the driver, Nursing Rao, sustained serious injuries and were shifted to a nearby hospital for treatment.
