According to fire department officials, the fire began around 4:20 a.m. in the electrical panel on the ground floor of the building, which housed a furniture workshop and worker accommodations. The cellar, ground, and first floors were used for manufacturing and storage, while the upper two floors served as residential quarters for employees.

Thick smoke quickly filled the building, forcing the trapped workers to move to the terrace for safety. Fire and disaster response teams responded swiftly, with tenders from Amberpet, Gowliguda, and a robotic unit from the Assembly Fire Station reaching the scene within minutes.

Firefighters launched simultaneous rescue and managed to bring the blaze under control within an hour. All 13 workers were safely evacuated. Officials said the cause of the fire is yet to be determined, and an investigation is underway.

In separate incidents on Wednesday, June 18, early morning fires were reported in Hyderabad and Karimnagar. Both were quickly contained due to the swift response coordinated through Telangana’s emergency service number, Dial-112.

The first fire occurred at 3:30 a.m. at Hill-Top Towers in Midhila Nagar, Bachupally, Hyderabad. The second was reported at 3:51 a.m. at Mathrusree Homeocare near Geethabhavan in Karimnagar. In both cases, short circuits in air conditioning units were identified as the cause.

Emergency teams reached both locations within minutes of distress calls made to Dial-112, which integrates police, fire, ambulance, women’s safety, child protection, and disaster response services through the Telangana Integrated Command and Control Centre (TGiCCC) in Banjara Hills.

In the Hyderabad incident, one resident, panicked during the evacuation, jumped from the second floor and sustained injuries. Others were safely evacuated. In Karimnagar, all occupants were rescued without injury.

Officials credited the prompt response enabled by Dial-112 for preventing serious harm and damage. Citizens were urged to maintain electrical appliances and avoid overloading circuits to reduce the risk of such incidents.
