Hyderabad: Two Deputy Superintendents of Police (DSPs) from Andhra Pradesh lost their lives in a road accident early this morning, July 26, 2025, near Kaithapuram village in Choutuppal mandal, Yadadri Bhuvanagiri district.
According to the information, the officers were travelling from Vijayawada to Hyderabad when their Scorpio vehicle met with an accident. The initial reports suggested that the vehicle lost control after a lorry in front applied sudden brakes. The Scorpio hit a road divider, veered into the opposite lane, and collided head-on with an oncoming lorry.
The deceased have been identified as Intelligence DSP Chakradhar Rao and DSP Shantharao. Additional SP Prasad and the driver, Nursing Rao, sustained serious injuries and were shifted to a nearby hospital for treatment. Further details are awaited as the investigation continues.
Earlier, three people were killed and one critically injured in a road accident on the Outer Ring Road (ORR) near Pillar No. 108, close to the Bonguluru Exit, in the early hours of Friday, July 18, 2025.
The crash occurred around 3:26 AM when a red Maruti Baleno (registration number TS07HW5858), traveling from Pedda Amberpet towards Bonguluru, rammed into the rear of a lorry. The impact caused severe damage to the car.
According to police, three of the four occupants died at the scene. The fourth was critically injured and was shifted to Niladri Hospital in BN Reddy Nagar for treatment. The deceased were reportedly trapped inside the mangled vehicle, and efforts were underway to retrieve the bodies.
The lorry involved fled the scene. Police have launched a search to trace the vehicle and its driver. Personnel from the Adibatla Police Station, including the Station House Officer, NDRO team, and ACP Ibrahimpatnam, responded to the scene. An investigation is ongoing.
In a separate incident earlier this year, a 30-year-old man, D Thirumalesh, died in a crash on the ORR near Adibatla on May 2. He was returning to Hyderabad from Shamshabad when he lost control of his car and hit a road median. The vehicle, reportedly speeding, flipped multiple times. Thirumalesh died on the spot from serious injuries. Preliminary reports suggest he may have fallen asleep at the wheel. Adibatla police attended the scene and handled the rescue operation.
