Andhra man held in Bachupally with Rs 15 lakh fake currency

Hyderabad: Bachupally police of Cyberabad commissionerate busted a counterfeit currency racket, arrested a person from Andhra Pradesh, and seized fifteen lakhs on Sunday.

Based on reliable and actionable intelligence, the Bachupally Police apprehended an individual involved in the possession and circulation of counterfeit currency.

The Bachupally police shared how the arrested accused met the main accused. They said, “Prathipati Prem Chandu, from West Godavari district in Andhra Pradesh, met Rakesh, who lives in Pune, Maharashtra.” Rakesh informed Prem Chandu about a method to earn easy money by distributing counterfeit currency notes. Following Rakesh’s instructions, Prem Chandu agreed to deliver currency to people in Hyderabad for a commission.

On Saturday at about 3:30 PM, Prem Chandu was spotted near Nizampet Arch, Nizampet Village. He was ready to deliver Rs 15,00,000 in fake Rs 500 notes. Acting swiftly on the tip-off, officers of the Bachupally Police apprehended the accused at the spot. A total of Rs 15,00,000 in counterfeit currency and a Redmi mobile phone were seized from his possession, said DCP Balanagar Zone, K. Suresh Kumar in s statement.

The accused, Prathipati Prem Chandu, was arrested and produced before the Magistrate, who remanded him to judicial custody.
