Hyderabad: Residents of Empire Meadows Colony and Sunway Opus, two gated communities in Ameenpur, are living in constant fear due to road conditions that have led to frequent accidents and immense inconvenience. The residents reported that the road is riddled with potholes, prone to waterlogging, and is often damaged by heavy water tankers passing through the area. The pothole-filled and dilapidated road is located in Ganesh Nagar, Ameenpur.

While speaking to the Hyderabad Mail, Amit Mishra, a resident of Ameenpur, highlighted the plight of the communities. “There are over 1,100 families residing in Empire Meadows and Sunway Opus gated communities. The road is in a deplorable state, and the situation worsens daily due to the heavy traffic, especially water tankers. Despite numerous complaints to the Ameenpur municipality, only temporary solutions have been provided, which are short-lived,” he said.

Amit Mishra said that the situation has escalated with a recent tragic incident where a biker lost his life after falling into the wheel of a water tanker due to poor road conditions and potholes. The residents are demanding a permanent solution, including the construction of a proper CC road.

Amit Mishra further said that the presence of a nearby Chaitanya Girls College, with around 2,000 students, exacerbates the problem. Every Sunday, many parents visiting the college causes severe traffic congestion on the already damaged road. The road is a two-way street, but one side is filled with potholes and water stagnation, forcing people to use incorrect routes, which creates another safety hazard.

Amit Mishra, the resident, said, "We protested last week due to these poor road conditions. We are planning another protest next week until the Ameenpur Municipality authorities provide a positive and permanent solution for new roads. After our previous protest, the municipality offered temporary solutions, but these deteriorated further with the rain."

The residents are urging the authorities to address the issue promptly and provide a lasting solution to ensure the safety of the community.
