New Akkamahadevi-Domalpenta Stay Package Launched by Forest Department
Hyderabad: The Akkamahadevi-Domalpenta stay package was launched on Monday by the forest department, offering visitors a unique experience in Domalpenta. The first phase of the package includes four rooms at the Vanavihanga cottages/Guest House, with views of the River Krishna backwaters from the Srisailam Dam.
On the inaugural day, visitors are taken on safari vehicles to the Octopus View Point and Vajrala Madugu Watch Tower to enjoy the scenic views. The next day, a safari will take them to the Akkamahadevi trekking point, followed by a 45-minute trek to the Akkamahadevi caves, known for their natural beauty and spiritual significance. The trek passes through dense forests and offers potential animal sightings. Upon reaching the caves, trekkers will see the Shiva idol inside. The return trek will be followed by a safari ride back.
The package tariff ranges between Rs. 6500 and Rs. 8000, covering both safari trips, the trekking experience, a visit to the caves, and a souvenir. The room accommodates two adults, with an additional charge of Rs. 1700 for guests above 8 years old.

Akkamahadevi Caves: A Historical Trek
The Akkamahadevi caves, named after the 12th-century saint Akka Mahadevi, hold historical and spiritual significance. The caves, where the saint is said to have meditated and prayed to a Shiva lingam, extend 150 meters and feature a dark, narrow passage leading to the Shiva lingam at the end. The final tunnel is only 3 feet high, requiring visitors to crawl or bend to reach the idol. Outside the caves, visitors can enjoy snacks and tea from nearby stalls.
